Collaboration on whiteboards

Whiteboards aren’t available in Atlassian Government environments.

Confluence whiteboards facilitate smooth collaboration among people.

You can collaborate with up to 60 people at a time.

Follow another person

See what someone else is viewing on the whiteboard by selecting their avatar from the navigation at the top of the whiteboard.

Hide other people’s cursors

When collaborating with multiple people on a whiteboard, the presence of numerous cursors can be distracting. To improve your focus and reduce visual clutter, you can hide collaborator cursors from your view.

How to hide collaborator cursors

  1. Find the Hide collaborator cursors icon on the right-side toolbar.

  2. Select the icon to toggle the visibility of collaborator cursors.

When enabled, this option will hide all cursors except your own, allowing you to concentrate better on your work. You can toggle this option off at any time to view the cursors of other collaborators again.

Private mode

Use private mode in whiteboards for more open collaboration with your team.

  • If you copy a whiteboard, edits made during private mode will not be included.

  • Edits made during private mode will not appear in version history.

Turn private mode on

  1. Select the private mode icon in the right-side toolbar.

  2. To keep authors anonymous after a private mode session ends, toggle Keep authors anonymous on.

  3. Select Start for everyone.

Turn private mode off

Anyone can end a private mode session. When you are ready to end a private session:

  1. Select the private mode icon in the right-side toolbar.

  2. Select Turn off private mode.

  3. Select Confirm.

Maximum number of elements

For effective whiteboard management, there is a limit of 10,000 elements that can be added to a whiteboard. Elements include shapes, text, pictures, and any other content contributed to the whiteboard. This constraint is implemented to maintain optimal performance and responsiveness even in large-scale collaborative sessions.
