Move ideas from your whiteboard into Jira work items and Confluence pages
If you’re not looking to showcase your entire whiteboard somewhere else, simply take the ideas you need or want with you to your other apps. Be it after brainstorming, or a retro - get things happening by copying text, sticky notes, or shapes into a Confluence page or a Jira work item description.
Select the sticky notes, text boxes, or shapes you want to copy.
Use Cmd + c / Ctrl + c.
Go to any plain text editor where you want this content to be.
Use Cmd + v / Ctrl + v.
Import Jira work items onto a whiteboard
You can import Jira work items onto a whiteboard in two ways: Copy and paste the link to a Jira work item onto your whiteboard, or use the Jira work item import dialog. This works for the cloud versions of Jira, Jira Service Management, and Jira App Discovery.
The Jira work item import dialog lets you search for and insert single or multiple Jira work items into your whiteboard. You can use a simple plain text search or more advanced Jira Query Language (JQL) to find work items. Learn more about searching with JQL
Use plain text search in the dialog:
Enter your query into the search field.
Select as many work items from the list as you would like to import.
Select Import work items.
Use JQL search in the dialog:
Select JQL near the search bar.
Enter your JQL query in the search field.
Select as many work items from the list as you would like to import.
Select Import work items.
Create Jira work items from your whiteboard
Quickly turn sticky notes or shapes into single or multiple Jira work items - be it in Jira, Jira Service Management, or Jira App Discovery. This will help take ideas in a whiteboard and turn them into actionable work items in Jira.
To turn a sticky or shape into a Jira work item:
Select a sticky or shape with text inside it.
Select + Create a Jira work item from the floating toolbar.
Select a site, space, and work type from the options in the picker. Note that the required input fields will update depending on the space and work item you select.
Fill in all required fields, then select Create.
