Use global preview panels to view and interact with related Atlassian content—like Jira work items, Confluence docs, projects, teams, and goals—without leaving your current context. When you select a supported Smart Link or “Mentioned on” link, the content opens in a side panel, so you can stay focused and avoid opening new tabs or windows.

Example:
You are working in Jira and want to review a linked Confluence page. Instead of opening a new tab, you select the link and the page opens in a side panel. You can read, comment, or edit the page, then return to your Jira work item without losing your place.

How to open and use a global preview panel
Find a supported Smart Link or “Mentioned on” link in Jira or Confluence.
Select the link. The linked content opens in a side panel on the right.
Interact with the content as needed—read, comment, edit, or take other supported actions.
To close the panel, select the close icon or use your keyboard navigation.
Tip: You can resize the panel, and your preferred width will be remembered next time. You can also choose to open the linked content in a new tab if you prefer.
