Set default access for all new spaces created
This article describes Confluence’s new role-based access control beta feature.
When roles are enabled in your Confluence instance, you can find them by going to Confluence settings > Security > Space permissions > Manage roles or to the Users page in Space settings.
If you don’t see those in your experience, your instance hasn’t been enabled for roles yet.
To help space creators set up their new spaces’ permissions, you can set a default permissions configuration for them to follow. Keep in mind that this isn’t a hard limit on what access a new space can have — it’s just a recommended starting point.
For example, if general access (through a user class such as All Confluence users) isn’t allowed in the default configuration product admins have set, space admins and managers can always add a user class and assign it a role in their space later.
Likewise, if product admins have included a user class in default access but only with the viewer role, space admins and managers can always change the role to one with more permissions.
You can create a default access configuration out of both user classes and groups. You can also assign a custom role as the default access role for them.
View the current default access configuration
Select the gear icon in the top right of your screen to go to product settings.
Open the Security section and select Space permissions.
Select Defaults for new spaces.
Change the default access configuration
To change a role for an already-listed group, open the role dropdown for that group and select a new role. To remove a group from the default, open the ••• menu and select Remove.
To add a new default group:
[ユーザーを追加] を選択します。
Search for a group or a user class and select the role its members should have.
追加 を選択します 。
Repeat as needed.
Select Save when ready.
Only groups and user classes can be added. Teams and individual users can’t be added to the default configuration.
Choose whether to allow public links by default
As part of your default access configuration, you can choose whether or not new spaces created should allow public links to be used by default. If toggled on, this means public links will be allowed in all new spaces created where the creator has opted to follow the default permissions configuration.
Space admins and managers can stop allowing public links in their space at any time. Also, if the default setting is toggled off, space admins and managers can always toggle it on for their space.
The default setting for public links is toggled on for all new sites created.
