View your notifications

Confluence has a notifications drawer where you can view recent activity that pertains to you. For example, you’ll receive a notification if you were @mentioned in a comment, a task was assigned to you, or content you’re watching was updated. If your Confluence instance is linked to Jira, Jira Product Discovery, or Jira Service Management, you'll also see notifications from there (for example, if a Jira ticket was assigned to you).

When it comes to collaboration, the notifications drawer is a convenient way to track and respond to requests from your team, and to follow the progress of work that is important to you.

View notifications

To open your notifications drawer, select the bell iconin the top-right of the Confluence navigation bar.

A selection tool highlights the location of the Notifications bell icon in the top-right of the Confluence navigation bar.

Which notifications are included?

Notifications are added to the notifications drawer when someone:

  • Shares a page or blog with you

  • Mentions you in a page, blog, comment, or task

  • Comments on a page or blog that you're watching

  • Likes a page or blog that you're watching

Notifications won’t include activity related to spaces you are watching. You must watch a specific page or blog to receive a related notification.

If your Confluence instance is linked to a Jira application, you'll also see the following Jira notifications:

  • Comments on issues that you're watching

  • Mentions

  • Shares of issues, filters, and searches

Hide notifications marked as read

You can use the Only show unread feature to easily filter relevant notifications from the noise.

To do this:

  1. Select the notification bell icon in the top nav bar to open the notification drawer.

  2. Select the Only show unread button so that it is switched on (green).

    1. To hide a single notification from view, select the blue dot on the right side of the notification. This marks the notification as "read" and because Only show unread is active, the now "read" notification will be hidden.

    2. To clear all your unread notifications, select Mark all as read.

Notifications aren't deleted, so nothing is ever lost.

If you want to see hidden notifications later:

  1. Select the notification bell icon in the top nav bar to open the notification center.

  2. Select the Only show unread button so that it is switched off (gray). All notification, read or unread, will now appear in the notification center.

    1. To unhide a notification, simply select Mark as unread and it will stay displaying in your list once you switch Only show unread back on.

Notifications are automatically removed from the list after 30 days. Older notifications can still be found in your email.
