Share databases, entries, or values

Effectively presenting your database information is crucial for your team's success. Whether you're working within Confluence or using other platforms, there are several ways to share and view your databases. This article will guide you through embedding databases on your Confluence pages and using Smart Links to display your database content.

Embedding databases pages

Using the /embed database command, you can embed an entire database, a specific database entry, or even a single database value onto a Confluence page. Follow these steps to embed your database content:

  1. When editing a Confluence page, select the + button from the toolbar and find embed database, or type /embed and select embed database.

  2. Search for or paste a link to the database you want to embed in the database field.

  3. Select or create an entry from the entry field if you want to display a specific entry. To display a particular value, select the value from the value field.

  4. Select Embed to insert the selected database, entry, or value onto the page.

The embedded content will appear as a Smart Link, providing a dynamic and interactive view of your database directly within your Confluence page.

Smart Links offer a flexible way to share and display database content on Confluence pages and anywhere that supports Smart Links. Smart Links can display an entire database, a specific view, an individual entry, or a particular value.

Displaying the whole database

  1. Go to the database you want to share and copy the URL from your web browser's address bar.

  2. Open the Confluence page or another location where you want to embed the database.

  3. Paste the URL, and it will create a Smart Link to the database.

Displaying a selected view

  1. Navigate to the specific view of the database you want to share.

  2. Copy the URL from the address bar of your web browser. You can also use the Copy link option from the view actions menu.

  3. Paste the URL into the Confluence page or another location to create a Smart Link to the selected view.

Displaying a database entry

  1. Find and open the entry you want to share from your database.

  2. Use the Copy link icon.

  3. Paste the URL into the desired location, and a Smart Link to the database entry will be created.

Displaying a database value

  1. In the table layout, navigate to and select the value you want to share.

  2. Use the Copy link icon for the specific value.

  3. Paste the URL into the desired location, and a Smart Link to the database value will be created.

Smart Links are dynamic and will update when the linked content changes. This ensures that the information you share is always up-to-date.
