Restore the Opsgenie Microsoft Teams V2 integration
If Opsgenie alerts have stopped reaching Microsoft Teams, use this guide to restore the integration.
Before you begin:
Identify every team and channel configured with the Microsoft Teams V2 integration (
MSTeamsIntegrationV2).Ensure you have permission to install or update Teams apps and add them to channels.
Step 1: Identify the bots you’ve installed in Microsoft Teams
Use this procedure to identify the bots:
In Microsoft Teams, select Apps, then select Manage your apps.
Look for the following app names:
App name | Next step |
|---|---|
Only Opsgenie | Go to step 2A |
Only OpsgenieEU | Go to step 2B |
Both Opsgenie and OpsgenieEU | Complete step 2A, then step 2B |
Step 2A: Update the Opsgenie app through the Teams marketplace
Use this procedure if your bot is named Opsgenie and is managed through the Teams app store.
In Microsoft Teams, select Apps.
Search for Opsgenie.
Select Update if it is available, then confirm the update and wait for the installation to finish.
Open a channel configured with the Microsoft Teams V2 integration.
Type
@Opsgenie helpand confirm the bot responds.Wait 2–3 minutes for Teams to activate the updated bot in other configured channels.
Check other configured channels. If the bot is not active, type
@Opsgenie helpin that channel to trigger it.(Optional) Send a test alert from Opsgenie to confirm delivery.
If you also have OpsgenieEU installed, updating the marketplace app doesn’t update OpsgenieEU. You must also complete Step 2B.
Step 2B: Install the OpsgenieEU custom app
Use this procedure if your bot is named OpsgenieEU and is managed as a custom-uploaded app. You only need to upload the ZIP file once, but you must add the app to each affected channel individually.
Download the new ZIP file: https://github.com/opsgenie/opsgenie-integration/raw/master/msteamsv2/opsgenie-eu-msteamsv2.zip.
In Microsoft Teams, select Apps, then select Manage your apps.
Select Delete on the existing OpsgenieEU app to prevent duplicate bot names.
Select Upload an app, then select Upload a custom app.
Select the downloaded ZIP file and select Add.
Search for a channel configured with the Microsoft Teams V2 integration and select Go.
For all other configured channels, return to Manage your apps, select the OpsgenieEU app, search for the channel, then select Go.
In a configured channel, type
@OpsgenieEU helpand confirm the bot responds.(Optional) Send a test alert from Opsgenie to confirm delivery.
You only need to upload the ZIP file once, but you must add the app to each affected channel individually.
Troubleshooting
If the integration still does not work and you see a BotDisabledByAdmin error:
Ask a Microsoft Teams administrator to allow the new app under Teams apps then Manage apps and in the active permission policies.
If setup policies installed or pinned the old app, add the new app to those policies.
Microsoft may take up to 24 hours to apply these policy changes.
