Integrate Opsgenie with Bamboo

What does Opsgenie offer Bamboo users?

Opsgenie has an email integration with Bamboo. Use the integration to send Bamboo notifications to Opsgenie, as alerts, with detailed information. Opsgenie acts as a dispatcher for Bamboo notifications, determines the right people to notify based on on-call schedules– notifies via email, text messages (SMS), phone calls, and iPhone & Android push notifications, and escalates alerts until the alert is acknowledged or closed.

This document describes how to configure the integration and details of data that Opsgenie receives from Bamboo.

Functionality of the integration

  1. When an event with "FAILED" or "NOT BUILT" status is created via notifications' mechanism in Bamboo, an alert is created in Opsgenie automatically through the email integration.

  2. When an event with "SUCCESSFUL" status is created via notifications' mechanism in Bamboo, the corresponding alert, if it exists, is closed in Opsgenie automatically through the email integration.

  3. When an event with "commented" status is created via notifications' mechanism in Bamboo, a note is added to the corresponding alert, if it exists, in Opsgenie automatically through the email integration.

Configuration in Opsgenie

You can add this integration from your team dashboard

If you're using Opsgenie's Free or Essentials plan, or if you’re using Opsgenie with Jira Service Management's Standard plan, you can only add this integration from your team dashboard as the Integrations page under Settings is not available in your plan.

Adding the integration from your team dashboard will make your team the owner of the integration. This means Opsgenie will assign the alerts received through this integration to your team only.

To do that,

  1. Go to your team’s dashboard from Teams,

  2. Select Integrations, and select Add integration.

Follow the rest of the steps to complete the integration.

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations. Search for Bamboo and select Add.

  2. Copy the email address field for configuring Bamboo with this integration.

  3. Specify who is notified of Bamboo alerts using the Responders field. Auto-complete suggestions are provided as you type.

  4. Select Save Integration.

Configuration in Bamboo

  1. If Bamboo's SMTP is not configured to send emails, then please do so by following the instructions at Configuring Bamboo to send SMTP Email.

  2. After configuring Bamboo's SMTP, click All build plans under the "Build" menu on the Bamboo dashboard.

  3. Click the edit icon in front of the desired build plan for which to receive Opsgenie alerts.

  4. Access the "Notifications" tab.

  5. Click Add notification.

  6. Select the desired Event for which to receive an alert in Opsgenie.

  7. Select Email Address in the "Recipient type" field.

  8. Paste the email address copied previously from Opsgenie's integration's page into the "Email Address" field.

  9. Click Add to save the notification setting.
