Get started with Opsgenie as a user
Learn how to configure your profile, get notifications from Opsgenie and view on-call schedules.
Opsgenie acts as a dispatcher for Graylog alerts, determines the right people to notify based on on-call schedules– notifies via email, text messages (SMS), phone calls and iPhone & Android push notifications, and escalates alerts until the alert is acknowledged or closed.
This version of the Graylog integration works only with Graylog v3 and above versions. If you’re using an earlier version go to Integrate Opsgenie with Graylog (Plugin).
When an alert is created in Graylog, an alert is also created in Opsgenie automatically through the integration.
You can add this integration from your team dashboard
If you're using Opsgenie's Free or Essentials plan, or if you’re using Opsgenie with Jira Service Management's Standard plan, you can only add this integration from your team dashboard as the Integrations page under Settings is not available in your plan.
Adding the integration from your team dashboard will make your team the owner of the integration. This means Opsgenie will assign the alerts received through this integration to your team only.
To do that,
Go to your team’s dashboard from Teams,
Select Integrations, and select Add integration.
Follow the rest of the steps to complete the integration.
To create a new integration:
From your Opsgenie account go to Settings > Integrations.
Select Add integration.
Search for Graylog and select the integration marked as New.
On the create screen, enter an Integration name.
If you want a specific team to receive alerts from that integration, select Assigned to team.
Select Save.
Note down the integration URL which is generated for your account. You will later use this in Step 4 of Configurations in Graylog.
From your Graylog account, go to Alerts from the main menu.
On the New Notifications page, select Notifications.
Enter a Title and a Description for the channels you want to set notifications for.
In the URL field, enter the URL generated for your account by Opsgenie. You can find this in the Instructions section of the Graylog integration page in your Opsgenie.
Copy the URL generated for you and paste this in the URL field in Graylog.
Select Create and save this notification.
Select Event Definition.
Create the notification rules by completing the Event Details, Condition, Fields definitions. When on Notifications, select the notification you’ve created above with the Opsgenie URL.
At this point, incoming Graylog notifications matching the rules of that notification, will be redirected to Opsgenie as alerts. You can customize this integration and define how Opsgenie should manage the alert flow by creating Incoming and Outgoing automation rules. Learn more about the integration framework.
