Get started with Opsgenie as a user
Learn how to configure your profile, get notifications from Opsgenie and view on-call schedules.
Opsgenie’s XL Release integration triggers Opsgenie notifications as part of your release process. Opsgenie acts as a dispatcher for these notifications and determines the right people to notify based on on-call schedules– notifies via email, text messages (SMS), phone calls, and iPhone & Android push notifications, and escalates alerts until the alert is acknowledged or closed.
Integration is enabled and disabled through a plugin in XL Release.
When an alert is triggered from a release in XL Release, an alert is created in Opsgenie.
When the alert is closed in XL Release, the corresponding alert is closed in Opsgenie.
When the alert is snoozed in XL Release, the corresponding alert is snoozed in Opsgenie.
You can add this integration from your team dashboard
If you're using Opsgenie's Free or Essentials plan, or if you’re using Opsgenie with Jira Service Management's Standard plan, you can only add this integration from your team dashboard as the Integrations page under Settings is not available in your plan.
Adding the integration from your team dashboard will make your team the owner of the integration. This means Opsgenie will assign the alerts received through this integration to your team only.
To do that,
Go to your team’s dashboard from Teams,
Select Integrations, and select Add integration.
Follow the rest of the steps to complete the integration.
Go to Settings > Integrations. Search for XL Release and select Add.
Specify who is notified of XL Release alerts in the Teams field. Auto-complete suggestions are provided as you type.
Copy the API key.
Select Save Integration.
Download the plug-in JAR file from here.
Shut down the XL Release server.
Copy the plugin JAR file to the XL_RELEASE_SERVER_HOME/plugins directory.
Start the XL Release server.
Log in to the XL Release GUI. If already logged in, refresh the page for the GUI.
Select Shared Configuration from "Settings".
Under Opsgenie:Config, click Add Config.
8. Enter a name for the integration in the "Title" box.
9. Enter your API key in the API Key box.
10. Click Save.
11. For more information, refer to the XL Release documentation here.
