End of sales and support for Opsgenie

Atlassian will discontinue new sales of Opsgenie on June 4, 2025 and end support for Opsgenie on April 5, 2027. Read the full announcement and learn about next-generation incident response options via Jira Service Management and Compass.

Schedule an Opsgenie migration

You can schedule your Opsgenie migration to Jira Service Management or Compass from the Migrate Opsgenie page in your Settings. This process allows you to choose the best migration plan, set a migration date, and review any potential impacts on your billing and user access.

You must be an Opsgenie Owner and a site admin to schedule the migration.

To schedule an Opsgenie migration;

  1. In Opsgenie, go to Settings > Migrate Opsgenie.

  2. Review your recommended migration plan and compare it with other available options.

  3. When you're ready, select Plan your migration.

  4. Choose your destination product from Jira Service Management and Compass plans.

  5. Select Proceed to continue.

  6. Select a migration date. You can schedule the migration up to one week ahead.

  7. Review your plan details, including the number of users and billing impacts.

Review billing impacts

  • If you're migrating to a new site, your billing admin must approve the billing before migration.

  • If you're migrating to an existing plan and on a monthly subscription, any new users coming from Opsgenie will be automatically added to your existing Jira Service Management plan.

  • We recommend reviewing these changes to ensure you have the right license capacity and avoid unexpected costs.

Prepare for your migration

Since your migration is scheduled at least a week ahead, we recommend:

  • Understanding how data migration works.

  • Reviewing your post-migration tasks.

  • Ensuring all stakeholders are informed of the transition.

To get a head start, see Prepare for data migration after scheduling your migration date.

Migrating Opsgenie with Jira Service Management Data Center

With the end of Opsgenie support on Apr 5, 2027, some of your Incident Management features will be impacted, including alerts and on-call services.

Here are some of the functionalities that will be impacted:

  • Opsgenie integrations

  • Searching for past and ongoing major incidents

  • Creating new major incidents

  • Linking major incidents to requests

Currently, the migration tool only supports migrations to Atlassian Cloud products. This means the migration tool doesn’t support migrating Opsgenie data to Jira Service Management DC. You can migrate Opsgenie to an existing Jira Service Management Cloud site or create a new one.

What are your options?

  • If you’re planning to keep using Jira Service Management DC, you won’t be able to migrate Opsgenie data to your DC site.

  • If you want to unify your incident management in Jira Service Management, consider migrating your Jira Service Management DC instance to Cloud before migrating Opsgenie. Read more about migrating to Cloud.

  • If you migrate Opsgenie to Jira Service Management Cloud, you’ll gain access to premium features such as automation and AIOps capabilities to enhance your incident response process.

  • If you migrate Opsgenie to Compass, you’ll benefit from a developer-focused alerting tool tailored for tracking component reliability.
