Disable reactions

Clicking “add a reaction” on a piece of content sends the author a notification, and is useful for letting users know that you've viewed, approved of, or enjoyed a piece of content. Content that receives a large number of reactions appears on the Popular tab of the Activity section in the sidebar. Some instances, especially ones that have external users, may prefer not to have reactions enabled for reasons such as cross-client confidentiality.

Reactions are enabled by default, but a Confluence administrator (see Manage global permissions) can disable and re-enable them for their entire Confluence Cloud instance.

To enable or disable reactions:

  1. If you aren’t already there, go to your Confluence Cloud instance.

  2. Select the wheel icon () in the top-right corner to open Confluence administration.

  3. Find Settings > Configuration in the left-hand navigation.

  4. Select Further configuration

  5. Select Edit.

  6. Find Likes/Reactions and check or uncheck the Enable box.

  7. Select Save.
