Trello for Google Workspace
The Trello for Google Workspace add-on keeps your boards, inbox and chat connected for maximum productivity. You can create new cards without leaving your inbox or chat, whether that's on the web or your Gmail mobile app. Whether you're tracking sales leads, managing customer feedback, or organizing action items from meetings, you can turn emails and chat messages into actionable Trello tasks without switching tabs.
Installation
There are two ways to install the Trello for Google Workspace add-on:
1. Directly from the G Suite Marketplace: while logged into the account you want to use the Trello for Google Workspace add-on with, visit the G Suite Marketplace. Click "Install" and then follow the prompts granting the add-on access. Return to your Gmail inbox, refresh the page, and then click on a message. The Trello for Google Workspace add-on will load in the panel on the right sidebar.
2. Directly from your new inbox: If you're using the new version of Gmail, you'll notice a plus icon on the right sidebar. Clicking this button will open the G Suite Marketplace and allow you to install the add-on without leaving your inbox.
Trello’s for Google Workspace add-on is only available for use while you're viewing an individual email and will not appear while you're viewing your inbox.
Getting started
Add cards from Gmail
After the Trello for Google Workspace add-on has been installed, the Trello logo will appear in the right-side panel while you're viewing an individual email. Click on the Trello logo while inside of an email and it will open the add-on.
From there, you can select the board and list you'll want the card created in. To save a little time, the email subject automatically becomes the card name and the email body the card description. These can both be edited before the card is created.
Once you're ready, click the green "Add" button at the bottom and the card will be created on the specified board.
Add cards from Chat
Once you’ve installed the app and logged in to your Trello account in Google Chat, add Trello to your chat or space by clicking the + icon next to the text box.
Once added, you can create cards using either of the following methods:
From a message: Hover over or tap any chat message, open the More actions (three dots) menu, and select Create card from message.
From a direct message/command: Start a chat with the Trello for Google Workspace app (@Trello for Google), type add followed by your card title (e.g., add Update quarterly roadmap), and send the message.
Tip: Type help to get a list of message actions you can use.
Capture smarter with Trello AI
Trello AI features are available on paid Trello plans (Standard, Premium, and Enterprise).
When creating cards from emails or chat messages, Trello AI can generate concise card titles and descriptions from the Gmail and Google Chat messages you capture.
To disable AI summarization, access your add-on settings by typing /settings in Google Chat or by mentioning the app with @Trello for Google settings.
Interact with boards and cards in Google Chat
Collaborate seamlessly without leaving your conversations:
Smart Link Previews: Paste a link to any Trello board or card into a chat to generate an interactive preview card.
Quick Actions: Use the preview to Star, Watch, or Join the board/card directly.
Add Comments: Add comments directly to a card from within the chat preview.
Logging out of the add-on
The Gmail add-on can support only one Trello account at a time, and you can swap to another account by logging out of Trello on the Gmail add-on first.
Open an email and click on the Trello logo to open the add-on. Click on the three dots on the add-on and choose "Logout".
Uninstalling the add-on
In order to uninstall the Trello for Gmail add-on, go to Manage Apps in the G Suite Marketplace, click on the three-dotted menu and click "Remove".
