Archiving cards automatically

You can use Automation to automatically archive cards at a particular cadence with a Calendar command or instantly with a Board Button command.

Archive cards with a Calendar command

1. Open the Automation directory by selecting the Automation button at the top of your board or from the board menu.

Go to the Calendar tab and select Create Command.

2. Add the trigger to your automation by selecting the interval of time that you want the command to run (for example, every Friday).

3. On the Move Cards tab, add the archive action. There are two archive options available: archive all the cards in a specified list or archive all the cards with a specified label.

4. When selecting the option to archive all cards in a list, you can also click the hourglass icon to only archive cards that have been in the list for more than a certain number of days.

5. After you configure the actions, save the automation.

Archive cards with a Board Button command

1. Open the Automation directory by selecting the Automation button at the top of your board or from the board menu.

2. Go to the Board Button tab and select Create Button.

3. Give your button a name (for example, Archive cards) and add an icon, if you want to. You don't have to add triggers to the Board Button automation because the automation is triggered when you click the button.

4. On the Move Cards tab, add the appropriate action for archiving cards. Board Button automations have the same archive options as the Calendar automations: archive all the cards in a specified list and archive all the cards with a specified label.

5. After you configure the actions, save the command.

You can find the created button at the top of your Trello board. To archive cards, select the created Archive cards button, and then the automation will be immediately executed.
