Manage included tools for connectors

Who can do this?

  • Role: Organization admins

  • Atlassian Cloud: Standard, Premium, and Enterprise

  • Atlassian Government Cloud: Not available

Included tools are the actions and MCP tools that Atlassian's included connectors make available to Rovo and agents by default. You can set one organization setting for every included connector, then change individual connectors where you need something different.

These settings apply to included connectors only. Connectors your organization adds keep their own settings.

How included tools work

Each included connector lists its tools in a table. For each tool you can see:

  • Type: Action or MCP tool.

  • Operation: Read tools retrieve information. Write tools can create or change content in the third-party app.

  • Status: Enabled or Disabled.

MCP tools on this page are the read-only MCP tools that come with included connectors, not MCP servers your organization adds.

People are asked to sign in to the third-party app before a tool can run, and they only see data they already have permission to access in that app.

Set the organization setting for included tools

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Connectors.

  3. Select the Settings tab.

  4. Under Included capabilities, select Included tools.

  5. Under Organization setting, choose a setting.

  6. Select Save.

  • Enable tools: Included actions and MCP tools are available, unless a connector is manually configured to turn them off. This is the default.

  • Enable read-only tools: Read tools stay available. Tools that can make changes are blocked, unless a connector is manually configured to turn them on.

  • Disable tools: Included actions and MCP tools are blocked, unless a connector is manually configured to turn them on.

The current setting shows as a status next to Included tools on the Settings tab, for example Enabled. The Included tools panel also shows how many included connectors are manually configured. Select View to see them.

Change included tools for one connector

Each included connector either follows the organization setting or is configured on its own.

  1. On the Connectors tab, select Included, then select the connector you want to change.

  2. Under Tools, find Included tools and open the menu next to it.

  3. Choose Use organization setting or Manually configure.

  4. If you chose Manually configure, select the tools you want to change, then enable or disable them.

  • Use organization setting: the connector follows the organization setting. The menu shows the current setting, for example Use organization setting (Enable tools). You can't change individual tools for the connector.

  • Manually configure: the connector uses its own tool settings instead of the organization setting.

Tools enabled at the top of the connector page shows how many of its tools are available.

Why a connector shows Manually configure

A connector can show Manually configure with some tools disabled, even if no one in your organization changed it. To change this, enable tools on the connector, or switch it to Use organization setting.

A tool is disabled even though the connector uses the organization setting

A connector can show Use organization setting (Enable tools) while its tools show Disabled. To fix this, do one of the following:

  • Choose an organization setting: on the Settings tab, select Included tools, choose a setting, then select Save. The setting applies to all included connectors, including any added later.

  • Configure the connector: on the connector, set Included tools to Manually configure, then enable the tools it needs.
