Manage automation flows in Atlassian Administration

Who can do this?
Role: Organization admin
Atlassian Cloud: Enterprise plan
Atlassian Government Cloud: Not available

You can view and manage all your automation flows - turn flows on or off, copy flows, label them, or delete them as needed from Flows tab.

How to edit a flow

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Organization settings > Automation.

  3. Select the automation icon, then select Manage automations > Flows.

  4. Select the name of the flow you want to edit.

  5. Edit the details of the flow as needed. The following properties are available to edit:

    • Name and Description.

    • Whether or not to allow the flow trigger. Allow flow trigger to specify whether or not actions in a flow can trigger other flows. By default, to avoid flow execution loops, automation actions in a flow will not trigger other flows.

    • Notify on error to specify the notifications the flow owner will receive if the flow fails.

    • Owner of the flow.

  6. Select Update to apply your changes.

How to disable a flow

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Organization settings > Automation.

  3. Select the automation icon, then select Manage automations > Flows.

  4. On the flow listing, select the name of the flow you want to disable.

  5. Turn off Enabled.

How to delete a flow

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Organization settings > Automation.

  3. Select the automation icon, then select Manage automations > Flows.

  4. On the flow listing, select the more actions menu (ellipsis icon) for the flow you want to delete.

  5. Select Delete.

  6. Confirm that you want to delete the flow by selecting OK.

How to copy a flow

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Organization settings > Automation.

  3. Select the automation icon, then select Manage automations > Flows.

  4. On the flow listing, select the more actions menu (ellipsis icon) for the flow you want to copy.

  5. Select Copy. The flow builder opens with a copy of the flow.

  6. Modify the step and give the flow a unique name.

  7. Select Turn on flow.

How to label flows

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Organization settings > Automation.

  3. Select the automation icon, then select Manage automations > Flows.

  4. Click the space under the Labels column.

  5. Create a new label in the text field or select a label from the existing list.

If you want to edit the name or color of any label, select the Edit labels button in the table header.

Audit logs for automation flows

You can use the audit log to review when an automation flow is triggered, the outcome of the execution, and any actions performed within the last 90 days.

We store audit log entries for 90 days.

To view the audit log for your authentication policies:

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Organization settings > Automation.

  3. Select the automation icon, then select Manage automations > Audit log.


For each flow, the audit log includes:

Attribute

Details

Date

The date and time that the flow was triggered

Flow

The name of the flow

Status

The status of the flow execution

Duration

The length of time the flow took to execute

Operations

The actions that the flow performed and any associated items
