Connect Salesforce to Teamwork Graph

You can use Teamwork Graph Connectors to search or chat across Salesforce data alongside your company knowledge.

Salesforce offers two connector options:

  • Synced connector indexes your Salesforce data into Teamwork Graph and supports Salesforce across search, chat, and agents.

  • Direct connector does not index any data into Teamwork Graph; instead it relies on real-time calls to Salesforce's MCP, and it works only in Rovo Chat and agents (it does not support search). Choose the option that best fits your needs.

Compare connector options

Synced connector

Direct connector

Data handling

Indexes Salesforce data into Teamwork Graph

Does not index any data; makes real-time calls to Salesforce's MCP

Where it works

Search, Chat, and Agents

Rovo Chat and Agents only (no Search)

Permissions

Salesforce permissions respected; integration account used for indexing

Salesforce permissions respected; uses each user's own Salesforce access at runtime

Setup

Configure objects, fields, and a start date; requires an integration account

No object, field, or start-date configuration; no integration account

Best for

Broad search across company knowledge plus Salesforce, with data in Teamwork Graph

Real-time results with no Salesforce data copied into Teamwork Graph

What is indexed?

The following applies to the synced connector only. The direct connector does not index any data into Teamwork Graph.

The Salesforce connector indexes these objects:

  • Accounts

  • Opportunities

  • Contacts

  • Cases

  • Campaigns

Admins can configure which of these objects to ingest as well as which standard fields and custom fields to ingest for each object.

Object and field level admin controls only impact what data is ingested from Salesforce and do not impact what fields or objects a user can retrieve information from in Rovo Chat.

Rovo Chat now has the ability to query Salesforce directly in addition to querying data from Teamwork Graph. Permissions set in Salesforce will be respected.

Before you begin

This setting controls what data is synced from Salesforce into Atlassian for indexing and search. When you access Salesforce data through Rovo at runtime, your own Salesforce access is used.

Which connector should I choose?

  • Choose the synced connector if you want Salesforce results in search as well as chat and agents, and you want Salesforce data indexed into Teamwork Graph alongside your company knowledge.

  • Choose the direct connector if you prefer not to index Salesforce data into Teamwork Graph and want real-time results in Rovo Chat and agents. The direct connector does not support search.

Who can connect Salesforce to Teamwork Graph?

To add either connector, you must be an Atlassian organization admin.

To connect the Salesforce synced connector to Teamwork Graph, you must be a Salesforce admin (for example, a System Administrator).

You do not need to be a Salesforce admin to connect the direct connector.

What integration user permissions are required?

Required for the synced connector only. The direct connector does not use a Salesforce integration account; it relies on each user's own Salesforce access at runtime through Salesforce's MCP.

The synced connector uses a Salesforce integration account to index data. This account must have:

  • API access enabled.

  • Read access to: Account, Opportunity, Contacts, Cases, Campaigns

  • The following system permissions enabled: View All Users, View All Profiles, View All Data

What do I need?

Make sure you have:

  • Your Salesforce org URL, for example: https://your-domain.my.salesforce.com

  • An Atlassian organization with access to Teamwork Graph connectors

Set up the Salesforce direct connector

To start setting up the Salesforce connector:

  • Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  • Select Connectors

  • Select Apps, then AI settings, then Rovo.

  • Select Add connector.

  • Choose a site, then select Next.

  • Select Salesforce, then select Next.

  • Choose the connector type: direct.

  • Enter a name for the connection.

  • Enter your Salesforce domain URL.

  • Review and agree to the data usage information.

  • Select Save.

  • After you select Save, the direct connector is enabled and available on your site. No Salesforce admin authorization is required at this step. Individual users are prompted to authenticate with their own Salesforce access the first time they use Salesforce in Rovo Chat or an agent.

Set up the Salesforce synced connector

When you add the connector, choose the connector type: synced.

Step 1 - Connect Salesforce to Teamwork Graph (OAuth)

To start setting up the Salesforce connector:

  • Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  • Select Apps, then AI settings, then Rovo.

  • Under Sites, next to the site you want to connect, select Add connector.

  • Select Salesforce, then select Next.

  • Choose the connector type: Synced.

  • Enter a name for the connection.

This setting controls what data is synced from Salesforce into Atlassian for indexing and search. When you access Salesforce data through Rovo at runtime, your own Salesforce access is used.

  • Set a start date so that only recent records are ingested. If you don't select a start date, all records are ingested. (Synced connector only.)

  • Review and agree to the data usage information.

  • Select Authorize Salesforce.

  • Salesforce opens a new tab. Review and accept the permissions.

Authorize Salesforce

To authorize the connection in Salesforce:

  1. If prompted, enter your Salesforce org URL.

  2. Sign in as your Salesforce admin or integration user.

  3. Review the access requested by the Atlassian Links app.

  4. Select Allow.

After you authorize, Salesforce registers the Atlassian Links connected app. In Atlassian Administration, you now see the Salesforce connector marked as Connected and ready for setup.

Step 2 - Install the Atlassian Links app in Salesforce

  1. In Salesforce, go to Setup.

  2. In the left sidebar, go to Platform Tools, then Apps, then Connected Apps, then Connected Apps OAuth Usage.

  3. Find Atlassian Links in the list.

  4. Select Install, then follow the prompts.

  5. Confirm that your Salesforce org has Atlassian Links installed and available.

If you don't see Atlassian Links, make sure you have completed the OAuth connection in Step 1, then wait a few minutes and refresh the page.

Next steps

After you've finished setting up your connection:

  • Configure which objects and fields should be ingested. (Synced connector only.)

  • Verify indexing for the synced connector
Ask Rovo about a specific Salesforce record, such as an account or opportunity, and check that the results match Salesforce. For the direct connector, there is no indexing to verify; ask about a specific record in Rovo Chat and confirm the real-time results match Salesforce.

  • Help your team connect
When people start using Salesforce content in Rovo, they may be prompted to connect their Salesforce account to their Atlassian account before they see results. With the direct connector, each user authenticates with their own Salesforce access before they see results in chat and agents.

  • Connect more tools
Add other connectors so Rovo can answer questions across all your systems.

The Salesforce connector shares the same Salesforce API rate‑limit quota as your other apps. To protect your tenant from hitting Salesforce‑enforced limits, Rovo will stop ingestion if your available API quota is below 50%.

If other applications are actively using the Salesforce API at the same time, they may still consume the remaining quota, which can slow down Rovo ingestion or cause ingestion delays when Salesforce begins throttling requests.
