Manage product release tracks

This feature is available for Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence with Premium or Enterprise plans.

Release tracks determine when you and your users get changes and new features for Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence.

Description

Changes included

Continuous

Products receive changes and features as soon as they become available. Products are on the continuous release track by default.

All changes.

Bundled

Products receive changes as a group on the second Tuesday of each month.

Changes roll out from 22:00 UTC. You can’t choose the time your products receive changes.

Visible changes that require people to adjust the way they are working, but do not cause significant impact to the organization. For example:

  • moving a button

  • a new task the user needs to complete

  • a new setting

  • a new step in a Jira workflow

There are visible changes that aren’t included in the bundled track because they roll out over a longer period of time. These changes could be the removal of a product or feature, or a large, significant change. Examples of large, significant changes include moving to:

  • the new issue experience in Jira

  • the fabric editor in Confluence

Bug fixes and security and performance updates will always be rolled out as soon as they are available.

Currently, Jira Service Management features powered by Opsgenie aren’t included in the bundled track.

Change release tracks for your product

To change release tracks:

  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Products > Release tracks.

  3. Find your product in the table, select Change track.

  4. Choose the track and select Next.

  5. Select Confirm.

Release tracks screen under the product navigation

When you switch your product to the bundled track, we stop all in-scope changes rolling out and hold them until the next bundle rolls out.

When your product switches from the bundled track to the continuous track, your product starts receiving changes within a few minutes.

View changes to your product

View all your product changes from the Release tracks page or from your email.

To view your product changes through the Release tracks page:

  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Products > Release tracks.

  • For a product on the bundled track, select the release under Next release or Last release in the release tracks table

  • For a product on the continuous track, go to our Cloud release blog

When a product is on the bundled track, we email you every month with the future product changes and the date your product will receive them.

Configure release tracks for your sandbox

With sandboxes, you can create an environment to test and experiment with changes. You can choose to have your sandbox on the same release schedule as your production environment or configure the track combinations to get changes earlier than your production environment. Learn more about sandboxes

You may want to experiment with changes in your sandbox before they roll out to production. You can choose the bundled track for your production environment and choose the continuous or preview track for your linked sandbox.

Preview track

Your production environment receives changes as a group every second Tuesday of each month.

Your sandbox receives the same changes as the bundled track, a month before they’re released to your production environment.

If you choose to have your production environment on the continuous track and your sandbox on the preview or bundled track, your production environment will get changes before your sandbox.

Currently, Jira Service Management features powered by Opsgenie aren’t included in the bundled or preview release tracks.
