Run a backup

The new backup and restore solution is available to a limited number of customers through a closed beta program.

When you run a backup for a product for the first time, we save the configuration as a backup policy. We store a copy of your Jira or Confluence product data in Atlassian storage for 14 days. In case your data is lost, corrupted, or inaccessible, you can use this copy to restore your product data within 14 days. You can run a new backup once every 7 days. If your backup fails or is incomplete, you can run it again as many times as you need until you get a complete backup. Learn more about backup limitations

You can reuse an existing policy to run future backups for the same product.

To run the same backup again:

  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Settings > Data management.

  3. Select Backup and restore.

  4. In the Backup policy table, find the policy that includes the product you want to backup. Select View details.

  5. Select Run backup.
