Remove an external MCP server from Atlassian Administration

Use this procedure to remove an external MCP server that you previously connected in Atlassian Administration.

When you remove an MCP server:

  • Users in your organization will no longer be able to use any tools provided by that server in Rovo.

  • Those tools will also stop working in other AI experiences across Atlassian products (for example, AI features in Jira, Confluence, or other connected apps that relied on those tools).

  • Any existing AI prompts or workflows that depended on those tools may fail or return reduced results until they’re updated to use other tools or servers.

Before you begin

Make sure:

  • You’re an organization admin (or have equivalent permissions to manage MCP servers in Atlassian Administration).

  • You’ve confirmed with relevant teams (for example, security, platform, or app owners) that it’s safe to remove this MCP server, and that impacted AI use cases have been reviewed.

If you only want to temporarily stop access to specific tools while keeping the server connection, consider disabling or deactivating tools instead of removing the entire server.

Remove an external MCP server

  3. Expand Sites then select the site where the MCP server is located.
