Activate a policy

New Backup and Restore Experience Open Beta: Enrolment Closed
New enrolment is now closed. Customers who have already used the feature in the open beta will continue to have access until general availability.

Backup and restore isn’t available in the Atlassian Government environment.

You can no longer store backups in Amazon S3 storage. Customers who've used S3 storage in the past can still use it.

After assigning the app and setting the schedule, you need to activate the backup policy to start running backups.

To activate the policy:

  1. Assign an app to the policy.

  2. Include or exclude any entities depending on your need.

  3. Set a schedule.

  4. Select Activate policy.

You can view the policy and its details in the Backup policy tab.

Active and inactive backup policies

Active policies

When a policy is activated and backups are running as scheduled.

Inactive policies

Policies can become inactive in three ways:

  • When you select the app you want to back up, set the schedule, and select where to store the backup but don’t activate it, we automatically save the policy as inactive.

  • When you remove the schedule, the policy becomes inactive.

  • When you schedule a backup policy once and after the backup is complete, the policy becomes inactive.
