Create a sandbox
Who can do this? Role: Organization admin Plan: Premium or Enterprise plan based on sandbox feature availability Atlassian Government Cloud: Not available |
You can create a sandbox within an existing sandbox site or in a new site. The number of free sandboxes you can create, depends on your subscription plan.
Choose a new site or an existing site for your sandbox based on what you want to test. If you are testing an Atlassian app along with other Atlassian apps, we recommend that your sandbox site has the same structure as your production site. For example, if you have Confluence and Jira on the same production site and you want to test how Smart Links to Jira work items can be added to a Confluence page. Use a new sandbox site when you create your first sandbox (Confluence in this example) and then add a Jira sandbox to the same site.
It can take up to 30 minutes to create your sandbox. If the sandbox isn’t ready after 30 minutes, contact support.
If have any expired Marketplace apps on an offline sandbox, you can’t replace the offline sandbox with a new one until you remove them. How to manage apps for a sandbox
If you add a new sandbox for an app that has an offline sandbox in a site, we’ll permanently delete the offline sandbox permanently (including its data) and replace it with a new sandbox. But if you are adding Jira sandboxes, note that they work differently. Read more about how Jira sandboxes work
If you don’t use your sandbox, it transitions to the offline state. Read more about the states of a sandbox
