We’re renaming ‘products’ to ‘apps’

Atlassian 'products’ are now ‘apps’. You may see both terms used across our documentation as we roll out this terminology change. Here’s why we’re making this change

Connect Slack to Rovo

Find your messages alongside your company knowledge.

For new connections made after 2 October 2025, this connector directly integrates through Slack’s search. Your Slack messages is not indexed by Atlassian. This means that content from this connector does not count towards Rovo’s indexed objects quota.

What is searchable?

The Slack connector makes the following usable in Chat and Search:

  • Messages in public channels

Files, canvases, channels, and private messages are not searchable at this time.

Connecting to Slack

To get to the setup screen for Slack in Atlassian Admin:

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Apps > AI settings > Rovo.

  3. Under Sites, next to the site you want to connect, select Add connector.

  4. Select Slack and press Next.

Next, to configure Slack:

  1. Give your workspace a memorable nickname.

  2. Review the disclaimer.

  3. Select Authorize Slack.

  4. A new tab will open to step you through Slack authorization. If you are signed into multiple Slack workspaces - make sure you are authorizing the correct workspace. It can be changed in the top right of the this screen.

  5. Step through the Slack authorization flow.

Next steps

After you’ve finished connecting Slack, your team members will see Slack show up as a filter option in Search.

If they haven’t connected to Slack from their Atlassian account, they may be asked to connect before they can see results. This is required so Rovo can make sure your teammates only see results they usually have access to.

For existing connections (connected prior to 2 October 2025)

For existing connections, they will continue to index your Slack content, and the connector will continue to function. Eventually, the connector will need to be reconnected and integrated directly through Slack’s search.

If you’ve got an existing Slack connector but would prefer your data not to be indexed by Atlassian, you can switch to the new connection method by:

  1. Disconnecting your Slack connector (Slack will immediately disappear from your organization’s search)

  2. Wait up to 48 hours for the disconnection to complete.

  3. Reconnect Slack by following the steps above.

This switch is not reversible.
