Restore from your Amazon S3 storage

The capability to back up data in external cloud storage is available to some customers as part of the closed beta.

When you restore backups, we automatically detect the location where your backup is stored. If you have taken a backup in the last 14 days, we restore it from the internal Atlassian storage.

To restore your backup:

  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Settings > Data management > Backup and restore.

  3. From the Restore tab, select the product you want to restore, then select Next.

  4. Select the specific backup you want to restore from the list of available backups for the product. If no backups are available, create a backup policy and run a backup.

  5. Select Import backup file. When you restore from an external storage, we first import the backup to the internal Atlassian storage.

  6. Once the import is complete, select Next.

  7. Review your backup. If the backup includes attachments, select whether you want to restore them, then select Next.

  8. Select where to restore the product data, then select Next. The destination can't have a backup or restore operation already in progress. For Jira, the destination has to be empty. For Confluence, the destination doesn’t have to be empty, but spaces matching the spaces in the backup are skipped.

  9. Review the data to restore, then select Restore. Once the restore starts running, it’s added to the Restore table.
