Remove a status from a workflow

  1. Go to Jira settings, then select Issues and then Workflows.

  2. Select More […] > Copy for the workflow you want to update.

    • This will create new version of the workflow, separate from the one that’s being used, which we’ll make changes to. This copy will then become the “real” version in step 6.

  3. Select the status you want to remove and select Remove status.

  4. In the left-hand menu, under Workflows, select Workflow schemes.

  5. Find the workflow scheme that your workflow is using, and select Edit.

  6. Select Add Workflow > Add Existing and find the name of the copied workflow. Follow the prompts to map issue types to the new workflow.

  7. Select Publish.

考慮事項

  • Workflows can be used by multiple projects. Be mindful of which projects are using this workflow, so you don’t introduce unintended changes.

  • Teams don’t get notified when a status is removed from a workflow, which can be confusing for them. We recommend informing your teams whenever you do this, so they understand what has changed and why.

  • The audit log will show that someone updated the workflow, but won’t show any specific details about the update (i.e. what status what removed).
