The Site Optimizer helps Jira administrators understand how their site’s data and configuration may affect performance at scale. It highlights entities approaching or exceeding limits and provides cleanup guidance.

To open the Site optimizer: Go to Settings → System → Site Optimizer

The updated homepage overview will organize site health into two sections: Limits and Guardrails.

The Limits section will show whether configuration entities are approaching or exceeding their limits and have relevant optimization action. For the complete entity list and applicable thresholds, see Data limits and guardrails.

The Guardrails section will show usage against recommended thresholds for spaces, work items, and space role permissions. Guardrails aren’t enforced limits. They help administrators identify data that may benefit from review as a site grows.

To review or optimise a data shape, select Review for an entity. Review the affected fields, spaces, schemes, permissions, or workflows. Refresh or update the data where available and confirm recommended changes.

What you can do with the Site Optimizer

Depending on the entity, the Site Optimizer will help you:

• Identify configuration approaching or exceeding a limit

• Find unused or inactive data and configuration

• Remove, disable, archive, or move eligible items to trash

• Simplify or redefine shared configuration schemes

• Identify affected scopes that require manual cleanup

• Track whether cleanup has brought configuration back within its limit

Some recommendations can be completed within the Site Optimizer. For others, you’ll be directed to the relevant Jira administration page.

The Site Optimizer won’t automatically delete or change your configuration. An administrator must review and confirm any cleanup action.

Always review dependencies before changing configuration used by work items, spaces, workflows, permissions, apps, automations, or integrations.
