Use custom metrics in dashboards

Custom metrics are available through the Early Access Program for sites on Premium and Enterprise plans. Your site must be enrolled before custom metrics appear in dashboards. To join, submit a request at the Early Access Program sign-up form.
Add a published custom metric to a dashboard to turn a reusable calculation into a chart or a list of detail rows.
Before you begin
Create and publish a custom metric.
Make sure you can access the data model the metric uses.
Open a Jira Service Management Summary dashboard, Assets dashboard, or Platform Dashboard in Open Beta for the same site as the metric.
To add a widget, open one of these dashboards for the same site as the metric:
For a Jira Service Management Summary dashboard, select App switcher, then Jira Service Management, then a space, then Summary, then Edit, then Add widget.
For an Assets dashboard, select App switcher, then Assets, then Dashboards, select a dashboard, then Edit, then Add widget.
For a Platform Dashboard, which is in Open Beta, select App switcher, then Home, then Dashboards, select a dashboard, then Edit, then Add widget.
Add an aggregated metric as a chart
Edit the dashboard and add a Chart widget.
Find the published metric in the Custom metrics category, then select it.
Select a column to group the results by. The available columns come from the metric's underlying data model.
Apply any chart filters you need.
Select a visualization, then save the chart.
You can use the same metric in more than one chart. For example, a metric that counts incidents linked to applications can be grouped by application name, application tier, or application owner in separate charts.
Add an unaggregated metric as a list
Use a list when the metric returns individual detail rows rather than an aggregated value.
Edit the dashboard and add a List widget.
Select the published unaggregated metric.
Select the columns you want to display in the list.
Save the widget.
Unaggregated metrics can only be displayed as tables.
Filter custom metric charts
Filters applied to the data model or metric automatically apply to every chart built from them. Use model filters for restrictions that should affect all downstream metrics, and metric filters for restrictions that should affect every chart using one metric.
Dashboard global filters don't currently work with custom metric charts. Add important filtering to the model, metric, or individual chart instead.
Understand permissions
People can only see a custom metric chart if they can access its underlying data model. If someone loses access to the model, the metric and its charts no longer load for them.
Existing data permissions still apply. Two people viewing the same chart can see different results if they have access to different work items or Assets data.
Limitations
During the Early Access Program:
Custom metrics are supported in Jira Service Management Summary dashboards, Assets dashboards, and Platform Dashboards in Open Beta.
Dashboard global filters don't work with custom metric charts.
Unaggregated metrics can only be displayed as tables through the List widget.
