Manage controls

After you’ve added controls to your dashboard, you can edit or delete them at any time.

Edit the settings of a control

You must have permission to edit or manage the dashboard to edit its controls.

To edit the settings of an existing control:

  1. Select Settings from your dashboard’s sidebar.

  2. Go to the Controls tab.

  3. Select the control you want to edit to expand its settings

  4. Select Save.

Alternatively, you can access the Controls tab by doing the following:

  1. Hover over the control on the dashboard.

  2. Select More actions () > Edit settings.

Edit a query of a control

You must have permission to edit or manage the dashboard and permission to query or manage the data sources used to create the control.

“Dropdown” and “Date slider” controls are built using a query and, optionally, other Visual SQL steps to transform the results. To edit the Visual SQL of these controls:

  1. Hover over the control on the dashboard.

  2. Select More actions () > Edit control. This will take you to the control editor.

Reset the values of a control

If you’ve changed the values of any controls on a dashboard, you can quickly reset all the controls to their default values.

You can either:

  • select the dashboard’s title at the top-left corner of the dashboard

  • or reset the values from the Controls tab by doing the following:

    1. Select Settings from the dashboard sidebar.

    2. Go to the Controls tab.

    3. Select Reset values.

  3. Select in the row of the “Hidden variable” control that you want to delete.
