Create dashboards in Insights

A dashboard helps you display a collection of charts. Charts are the visual building blocks in a dashboard. They let you bring your data together and build the right visualizations to identify trends, patterns, and outliers.

Based on the connected data sources, your charts will query those sources directly to return results, reflecting the most up-to-date data when the charts refresh.

With Insights, creating a dashboard can be as easy as typing a query into Rovo, or you can manually build it using predefined metrics or SQL. In this page, learn the different methods you can use to create dashboards in Insights.

Create a dashboard with Rovo

To create a dashboard using Rovo:

  1. Select Create, then Create with Rovo from the global navigation, or simply type a prompt on the For You page. Here are some prompts to create your first dashboard:

    1. “Build a dashboard to monitor my team’s workload. Include a table of open work items per engineer broken down by status, a bar chart of story points by assignee, and a number chart showing total open work items."

    2. “Create a dashboard showing Jira project health for <insert project name>. I want a line chart of work items created vs. resolved per week over the last 3 months, a pie chart of open work items by type, and a bar chart of issues by priority.”

    3. "Build a goals overview dashboard. Include a pie chart of goals by status (on-track, at-risk, off-track), a number showing total active goals, and a table listing each goal with its owner and current phase."

  2. Once your charts are built, select Add to dashboard to add the charts to a new or existing dashboard.

  3. Select Open editor to make changes to your dashboard. Hover over a chart to see edit options.

    1. Select the pencil icon to edit the metrics within each chart. You can further modify your chart using Rovo. Select Save changes to update the chart.

    2. Select More actions (⋯) to refresh chart data, download or copy the chart as a PNG, or delete the chart.
