Optimize space role actors per space in your site
The site optimizer helps Jira administrators monitor how many space role actors are assigned within each space and remove actors associated with deleted or inactive users. This keeps pages loading quickly and permissions running smoothly.
A space has a recommended guardrail of 5,000 space role actors. A space role actor is a user or group assigned to a role in a space. A guardrail is a best-practice threshold, not an enforced limit. Exceeding it won’t block admins from managing space roles, but it may affect performance.
This feature is available only on Jira Premium and Enterprise plans. Jira admin permissions are required.
To review space role actor usage:
Select Settings (), then select System.
Select Site optimizer.
In the Guardrails section, find Space role actors, then select Review.
The Analysis tab shows:
spaces approaching or exceeding the guardrail
the number of space role actors in each affected space
the recommended guardrail
how the number of space role actors has changed over time
Under Clean up space role actors, you can filter by space and identify actors associated with deleted or inactive users. Select the entries you want to remove, then select Remove actors.
Review each recommendation before removing actors because this action may affect a user’s access to a space. To manage assignments that are still required, you can replace individual users with groups or use a role’s default members.
The Activity log shows actions completed through the Site optimizer, including when each action was completed, who completed it, a summary of the change, and the number of affected records.
