What are the states of a sandbox?

Every sandbox that you create is linked to a sandbox site and an app from your production site.

This page describes the various states associated with a sandbox. To view the status of sandboxes in your organization, navigate to Atlassian Administration > Apps > Sandboxes.

Sandbox is online

As soon as you create a sandbox, it will be in the Online state and the Last Data Copy column displays Never copied.

You can take the following actions on an online sandbox:

  • Copy - Your sandbox won’t have any app data until you either create data in your sandbox manually or copy data from production. If you copy data from production, the Last Data Copy column displays the date of the most recent copy.

  • Delete - You can delete the sandbox if you no longer need it. How to delete a sandbox

Sandbox is offline

Your sandbox transitions from the Online state to the Offline state when:

  • サンドボックスを削除した場合

  • you delete the sandbox site

  • you haven’t used your sandbox in the last 28 days

You can take the following actions on an offline sandbox:

  • Restore - You can restore an offline sandbox (along with its data), within 30 days after its transition to the Offline state. After 30 days, we’ll permanently delete the sandbox, and all its data. How to restore a sandbox

  • Add - If you have an offline sandbox for an app in a site, you can add a new sandbox for the same app. This will immediately delete the offline sandbox permanently and it will be replaced with a new sandbox. For example, when you create a Confluence sandbox and then delete it, it will transition to the offline state. If you add a new Confluence sandbox to the same site, it will replace the existing offline sandbox.

Sandbox site is offline

Your sandbox site transitions from the Online state to the Offline state when:

  • you delete the sandbox site

  • when all the sandboxes in that site are in the offline state

The sandbox site will be available up to 30 days after its transition to the Offline state. After 30 days, we’ll permanently delete the sandbox site. You can take the following actions on an offline sandbox site:

  • Restore - You can restore the site by restoring any its sandboxes. How to restore a sandbox

  • Reuse URL - You can reuse the URL only 30 days after the site is permanently deleted. If you want to reuse the sandbox site URL before that, you’ll need to reset your sandbox by contacting support. Resetting your sandbox will clear all information but retain the URL.

Sandbox is destroyed

Because your sandbox is linked to your production environment, your sandbox will be destroyed if:

  • your production app is no longer available

  • your production app is no longer on a Premium or Enterprise plan

Sandbox data and configuration can’t be restored after it’s permanently deleted.
