Get started with Jira Service Management for admins
Your first stop for learning how to get started with Jira Service Management.
When someone’s approval is required for a request, they’re notified by email and by a Slack or Microsoft Teams message, if chat is turned on.
Approval notification emails can be configured so that the approver can either approve or decline directly from the email, or use a link to go to Jira Service Management and approve from the request view. Learn more about approvals.
You must be a project administrator to manage the settings for approval by email.
To manage the settings for approval by email:
From your service project, select Project settings, then Notifications, then Customer notifications.
Under Notifications, select Edit next to Approval required.
Under Security settings, select the option you want to use for approval email notifications.
Select Save.
If your team uses Jira Service Management chat to raise requests, approvers can also approve or decline requests directly from Slack or Microsoft Teams. Learn more about chat.
Similar to email notifications, the approver can take action directly from the chat message or use a link to go to Jira Service Management and approve from the request view. By default, approvals are turned on if your team uses chat.
