To edit a custom field context, perform these steps:
Select > Issues.
Under Fields, select Custom fields.
Find the custom field you want to configure and select > Contexts and default value. Alternatively, you can click a field's screens or contexts link and then click Contexts > Create, edit or delete contexts.
Locate the context you want to change and select Edit Configuration.
In the applicable issue types section, select or unselect the relevant issue types.
In the applicable contexts section, select or unselect the relevant projects.
Select Modify.
Custom fields with global contexts are available to all projects in your Jira instance, although only a handful actually use them. To improve performance, you can automatically change their context to project-specific, applying them only to relevant projects.
By adding a global context to a custom field, the field can now be used in team- and company-managed projects.
In team-managed projects, you can view fields from other projects only if the fields have global context applied to all issue types.
To add global context:
Select > Issues > Fields > Custom fields.
Find the custom field you want to configure, select > Contexts and default value.
Select Edit context. Alternatively, you can add a new context.
Go to Choose applicable issue types and select Any issue type.
Go to Choose applicable context and select Global context.
Select Modify.
If you haven’t selected Any issue type under applicable issue types, your field will not show up in a team-managed project. The field will appear in company-managed projects for only those issue types you’ve selected.
If you want to use a custom field in only some projects, you can add or edit a context to apply it to only some projects and issue types. Each context can have its own configuration set.
To change the context:
Select > Issues > Fields > Custom fields.
Find the custom field you want to configure, select > Contexts and default value.
Select Edit context. Alternatively, you can add a new context.
Go to Choose applicable context and select Apply to issues under selected projects.
Select the project you want the context to apply to.
Select Modify.
