You can migrate from other issue trackers and take your data with you, so you can pick up where you left off in your new Jira Cloud products.

Import data from other tools and apps

You can import data into Jira Cloud products from other tools in either CSV or JSON format. We recommend CSV in most cases. See the list below for more information about common tools, which format we recommend for them, and how to import their data into Jira.

Asana

If you’d like to import data into a software/business project, you can directly import data from Asana using the new import experience. Read about importing data directly from Asana

Axosoft

We recommend exporting your Axosoft data to CSV to import it to Jira.

To create a CSV file, you need to go to your list of items or work logs and select the Export option from the More menu. Make sure to select all fields for the export, otherwise some information may not be visible in Jira. Save the resulting CSV file.

Basecamp

We recommend contacting your local Atlassian Partner, or checking out the  Atlassian Community  for tips and tricks from other users. You can also develop your own solution based on Basecamp and  Jira public APIs .

Bitbucket

We recommend exporting your Bitbucket data to JSON to import it to Jira.

Excel

We recommend exporting your Excel data to CSV to import it to Jira.

Clean up the spreadsheet from all unnecessary information or macros and make sure that the table columns are labeled correctly. When you're ready, select File > Save As and choose CSV from the Format dropdown.

Github

We recommend exporting your Github data to CSV to import it to Jira. You can use the new import experience to easily import data into a business or a software project.

Pivotal Tracker

We recommend exporting your Pivotal Tracker data to CSV to import it to Jira.

Rally

We recommend exporting your Rally data to CSV to import it to Jira. 

To create a CSV file, go to Rally's Summary page, select Actions > CSV, and save the resulting file. This kind of export will only contain the data visible on the summary page. If you want to export all data, you need to create a custom view first. Check out Rally's documentation for more information.

Redmine

We recommend exporting your Redmine data to CSV to import it to Jira.

Azure DevOps

We recommend exporting your Azure DevOps data to CSV to import it to Jira. You can use the new import experience to easily import data into a business or a software project.

This process has two steps: 

1. Create a query with the work items that you want to export. When this a query is created, save its results into the Excel spreadsheet. 

2. Save the resulting spreadsheet into a CSV format.

Trac

We recommend exporting your Trac data to CSV to import it to Jira.

Trello

Jira Cloud sites support importing Trello data directly. Read about how to import directly from Trello

VersionOne

We recommend exporting your VersionOne data to CSV to import it to Jira.

In order to create a CSV file, you need to use the VersionOne's custom reporting. Custom reporting allows you to perform an export to different file formats, including CSV. Refer to VersionOne's documentation for help on how to use custom reporting and exporting to CSV.

YouTrack

We recommend exporting your YouTrack data to CSV to import it to Jira. You can use the new import experience to easily import data into a business or a software project.

In order to create a CSV file you need to select the Issues in CSV option from your reports menu in YouTrack. Make sure to prepare the search criteria first so that exported data set is exactly what you want to have imported into Jira. Save the resulting CSV file.
