Merge cards
Trello's merge cards feature lets you combine two or more cards into a single, consolidated card. Instead of manually copying content between duplicates or related cards, merge them to bring descriptions, checklists, and attachments together automatically.
Merged cards retain the original content from each source card, and AI generates a consolidated description and checklists for easy reference.

AI features enabled for your workspace
Access to Trello on web or desktop (mobile is not yet supported)
How to merge cards
There are two ways to merge cards in Trello.

Select a card and drag it over the card you want to merge it with.
Hold for a few seconds until the merge indicator appears.
Drop the card to start the merge.
The merged card appears with a consolidated description and generated checklists.
Use bulk actions
Hold the Shift key (Mac) or Ctrl key (Windows) and select multiple cards.
Right-click to open the context menu.
Select merge cards.
The selected cards merge into a single consolidated card.
What happens after a merge
When cards are merged, Trello:
Creates a single consolidated card
Combines the descriptions from each original card
Generates a checklist for each original card's content
Preserves the original card content in the description for reference
Archives the original cards; they're removed from the board but can still be retrieved from the archive if needed
Undo a merge
If you merge cards by mistake, you can undo it immediately:
After a merge completes, a notification flag appears at the bottom of the screen.
Select Undo to reverse the merge and restore the original cards.
FAQ
Who can use merge cards?
Users on Standard, Premium, and Enterprise plans with AI features enabled.
Can I merge cards on mobile?
Not yet. merge cards is currently available on Trello web and desktop only.
Can I merge more than two cards at once?
Yes. Use the bulk action method to select and merge multiple cards at the same time.
What happens to the original cards after merging?
The original cards are moved to the archive, and their content is consolidated into the merged card. You can undo the merge immediately if needed, or restore the original cards from the archive.
Can I disable merge cards to prevent accidental merges?
Yes. Disable AI features at the workspace level to turn off merge cards along with other AI features.
Is there a keyboard shortcut to undo a merge?
There is no dedicated keyboard shortcut at this time. Use the Undo option in the notification flag that appears after merging.
