How are subscribers counted?

One of the main plan allocations is the amount of subscribers you can have. This article aims to clarify how these are counted.

Subscription type

  • Email: each email address is counted as a unique subscriber.

  • SMS: each phone number is counted as a unique subscriber.

  • Slack: each subscribed channel counts as one subscriber

  • Webhook: each webhook is counted as a unique subscriber.

  • RSS: RSS subscribers are not counted against your subscriber total.

  • Atom: Atom subscribers are not counted against your subscriber total.

Subscription states

Email subscriptions can be in 3 different states:

  • Active

  • Quarantined

  • Unconfirmed

The subscriber screen with total subscriber count and tabs of subscriber types

The tabs of subscription types all show the total amount of subscribers for the individual types, so in the case of email subscriptions a sum of Active, Quarantined and Unconfirmed. All subscriber states are counted to show the total amount of subscribers within the tab.

What subscribers count towards my subscriber limit?

Active plans

Only active subscribers are counted towards the subscriber limit total for active plans. Quarantined, unconfirmed, and deleted subscribers do not contribute to your plan's total.

Trial plans

Active, quarantined, unconfirmed, and deleted subscribers all count towards the 25 subscriber limit on trial plans.
