Get help from the Cloud transition agent

The Cloud transition agent is a Rovo-powered assistant built into Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) that helps organization admins diagnose and resolve migration errors in real time. Instead of creating support tickets, you can ask the agent questions during your migration run. The agent will interpret error logs, explain what went wrong, and recommend the required next steps.

The Cloud transition agent can help with a wide range of migration errors, including:

  • User and group mapping failures

  • Attachment and file size limit errors

  • Configuration and permission mapping issues

  • Project and board migration warnings

  • Pre-migration check failures

For issues that require Atlassian engineering intervention, the agent will prompt you to raise a support ticket and will automatically include context for support teams.

The agent is in beta, and is available to participating organizations.

Eligibility

To use the agent:

  • You must be an organization admin.

  • You should be migrating to Jira Cloud using the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant.

Where can you find the Cloud transition agent?

The agent appears as a side panel within Jira Cloud Migrations Assistant. You can open it at any stage of a migration run to ask questions or review its suggestions.

When an error or warning appears during a migration run, you can use the agent to:

  • Understand the root cause of the error in plain language.

  • Ask for specific remediation steps you can take immediately.

  • Check for automated fixes for common errors (for instance, resolving attachment size issues or invalid configuration mappings).

  • Check for risks before they cause a migration to fail.

  • Check the progress of your migration.

How does the Cloud transition agent work?

The agent uses your migration data to provide context-aware answers. It reads migration logs, error codes, and run history to correlate what went wrong and why. The agent doesn't make changes to your migration without your confirmation. Instead, it presents recommendations that you can choose to apply.

Use the Cloud transition agent in Server or Data Center

  1. In Jira Server or Data Center, go to Administration, then System. Select Migrate to Cloud.

  2. Start or resume a migration.

  3. When the agent panel appears on the right side of the screen, select it to open the chat interface.

  4. Type your question or describe the error you’re seeing. For example: “Why did my users fail to migrate?” or “What does error code X mean?”

  5. Review the agent’s diagnosis and recommended steps.

  6. If the agent offers an automated fix, review the description of what the fix will do, then select Apply fix to run it.
