Data contribution settings availability

We’re updating how we use customer data so we can improve our apps and AI experiences for all customers. Learn more about this change

Currently, data contribution settings apply to metadata and in-app data from the following apps:

  • Confluence

  • Jira

  • Jira Service Management

  • Platform apps and integrations Atlassian doesn’t use metadata or in-app data from apps that do not yet have data contribution settings available, such as Loom or Bitbucket. When data contribution settings become available for those apps, we’ll notify organizations with those apps.

Data contribution settings are available at the Atlassian organization level and the default settings are determined by the highest active plan in your Atlassian organization.

Teamwork Graph connectors

Data contribution settings are available at the Atlassian organization level for certain Synced and Synced Lite Teamwork Graph connectors. To view the connectors with data contribution settings, and to set up exceptions, navigate to the Data contribution page in Atlassian Administration. We won’t use metadata or in-app data from a Teamwork Graph connector unless data contribution settings for that connector are available in Atlassian Administration.

How to include or exclude in-app data from Teamwork Graph connectors

Platform apps

Atlassian platform apps such as Rovo (Search, Chat, Studio), Home, Teams, Projects, Assets, Goals, Analytics, and Administration are pre-loaded onto Atlassian sites, providing foundational features to connect teams' work across apps. The data contribution setting at the Atlassian organization-level governs data contribution from platform apps.

When your Atlassian organization contains only apps that don’t have data contribution settings available yet, such as Loom or Bitbucket, Atlassian doesn’t use metadata or in-app data from platform apps.

Atlassian organizations that don’t contribute data

To honor our customers' compliance requirements, Atlassian doesn’t use metadata or in-app data from Atlassian organizations that have any of the following offerings:

  • Customer-managed-keys (CMK) or bring-your-own-key (BYOK)

  • Atlassian Government Cloud

  • Atlassian Isolated Cloud

Additionally, we do not use metadata and in-app data from Atlassian organizations with HIPAA compliance or from other certain government and financial services customers.

If your Atlassian organization falls into one of the above categories, it is excluded from data contribution, and none of its metadata or in‑app data is used for data contribution.

Connected apps that don’t contribute data

Data contribution settings don’t apply to metadata or in-app data from the following apps:

  • Marketplace apps built by Atlassian (such as Jira Service Management Forms or Confluence Questions).

  • Atlassian Marketplace apps built by third-party partners.

  • Apps developed by other vendors and hosted outside of the Atlassian Marketplace.

For detailed information about a third-party Marketplace app, consult the listing in Atlassian Marketplace.
