Mobile Device Management (MDM) for Atlassian mobile apps

MDM security controls and supported apps

You configure security controls for iOS (Apple) and Android devices differently. You’ll need to configure some settings using your current Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution (following the AppConfig standard) and other settings using Apple’s Mobile Device Management Settings or Android Enterprise.

Which apps are supported?

We support iOS and Android Atlassian cloud mobile apps: Jira Cloud, Confluence Cloud, Trello, and Opsgenie.

There are two ways your users can download these apps to their devices:

  • Directly from the App Store or the Google Play store, or

  • From your organization’s list of supported apps. You’ll need to configure this within your current MDM solution. Check the documentation for your MDM for more information.

Security controls for iOS devices

The table describes the security controls available for iOS devices and where to configure the settings.

  • Prevent users from cutting, copying, and pasting from Atlassian mobile apps to other apps

  • Restrict users from sharing data to other devices with the iOS share sheet

  • Force users to verify their identity before using Atlassian mobile apps

  • Restrict users from logging in with an account outside of your organization

  • Prevent users' devices from backing up data to iTunes or iCloud

  • Prevent users from taking screenshots

  • Prevent a compromised (rooted) device from accessing Atlassian mobile apps

  • Set a minimum or maximum operating system

  • Require users to set a device passcode

Using Apple’s Mobile Device Management Settings.

  • Store account data in an encrypted form on the device

  • Store app data only in places on the device where backup and sharing is restricted

This is built into all Atlassian cloud mobile apps – no need to configure.
