Add Beacon to your organization

Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect) helps teams detect, investigate, and respond to suspicious user activity and potentially sensitive data across Atlassian cloud. What is Beacon?

Add Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect)

To add Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect) to your organization:

  1. Subscribe to Atlassian Guard Premium.

  2. Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  3. Select Products> Add product.

  4. Select Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect) from the list.

  5. Select the site to connect Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect) to. We detect and generate alerts for your entire organization, not just this site. We recommend you choose your main site, and not a test site.

  6. Follow the prompts to add the product.

Once you’re ready to start using Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect), find out how to view alerts or set up some integrations.

To access Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect):

  • Select Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect) in the app switcher, or

  • Select Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect) in the products list in Atlassian Administration.

Which site should I connect Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect) to?

When you add Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect) to your organization we ask you to choose a site. This is mainly to determine the product URL used to access Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect), and to identify it in places like the products list or app switcher. Alerts are generated for all eligible instances, not just for the site selected.

We recommend you choose your main site, and not a test site, as it’s not easy to change the site after creation.

If you’re trialling Atlassian Guard Premium, and don’t want to generate alerts from your production instances, you’ll need to use a separate test organization.

Can I test Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect) on a non-production site?

Many organizations want to test a product before using it in production. Because Beacon beta (soon to be Guard Detect) runs across your entire organization, it can’t be limited to a test site or sandbox.

If you don’t want alerts to be generated for your production data, you will need to use a test organization.
