What is FastShift?
The FastShift program is designed to speed up your move to and adoption of Atlassian’s Cloud apps, empowering your teams to unlock the full benefits of cloud sooner. This program is complimentary and included with your purchase of cloud. Participation is entirely voluntary, but strongly encouraged.

Program inclusions
With FastShift, your team can focus on preparing a smooth transition to the cloud for your users, ensuring early adoption, and setting up your teams for long-term success in the cloud. As a participant, you’ll partner with Atlassian to access the following resources.
A dedicated FastShift team
Your FastShift support team will be composed of:
A FastShift Delivery Manager
A Migration Support Engineer
A Customer Success Manager
An Atlassian FastShift sponsor (for some migrators).
This team will partner with you throughout the engagement, ensuring a smooth migration to the cloud. They will tailor your experience to your unique needs, helping you smoothly migrate your Atlassian self-managed product data to Atlassian Cloud.
For an even smoother experience, you could also consider working with a Cloud Specialized Partner and/or Atlassian Advisory Services, who, for an additional cost, can handle all your FastShift responsibilities and provide strategic guidance.
High-touch technical support
Our technical migration support ranges from over-the-shoulder support to hands-on backup, where you entrust Atlassian to assess your site’s migration readiness, identify key decisions, and perform your test migration.
Advanced migration tooling
You’ll gain access to migration tooling that streamlines planning, execution, and monitoring. This accelerates migration timelines to minimize downtime and supports complex use cases that meet enterprise needs.
Eligibility
To ensure a successful collaboration, customers need to meet the eligibility criteria.
Current setup
Customers with 1,000+ seats are eligible for FastShift. However, our self-serve migration tools and resources are available to customers with fewer than 1,000 seats to migrate to cloud. If you have questions or require support, you can contact our Atlassian Migration Support team via the Support Portal.
You should be using Jira, Confluence, or Jira Service Management on Atlassian’s self-managed deployments.
You are maintaining an active paid commercial cloud test environment with sites for the Atlassian apps you intend to migrate as part of this program.
Cloud intent
You plan to move some or all Jira, Confluence, or Jira Service Management instances to cloud on an accelerated timeframe that will be agreed upon between you and your FastShift Delivery Manager, usually between 2 and 6 months.
You embrace the differences between Atlassian’s self-managed deployments and Cloud, understanding that you’ll gain more functionality in the Cloud without expecting feature parity.
Participant commitment
If you choose to participate in the FastShift program, active engagement and communication will be essential. You will be required to engage regularly with our FastShift team. This includes participating in weekly check-in calls, responding promptly to communications on tickets, and making swift decisions when necessary.
You will also be required to commit to the following:
Data access
If you choose hands-on backup support, you will provide Atlassian with access to self-managed data to be migrated, preferably by sharing a database backup.
If you opt not to provide Atlassian with access to your data, then we will provide over-the-shoulder support. In this case, you’re responsible for implementing any necessary changes or suggestions in a timely fashion during your migration.
Stakeholder support and executive sponsorship
We need you to ensure that your organization and necessary stakeholders have agreed to participate in and move forward with a migration to the cloud. Make sure you’ve got the backing of senior leadership. Your executives must commit to giving you the resources, guidance, and support needed to succeed in the program.
Communication
You will engage with our program’s support team regularly, following a cadence established during the onboarding call and maintained regularly thereafter.
Mutual cooperation
We need you to cooperate reasonably with the FastShift team during the FastShift Services, including performing activities that Atlassian reasonably recommends.
Timeline
Based on the user tier you plan to migrate, we require you to follow the designated migration timeline beginning upon acceptance into the program:
2 to 3 months for 1,000 to 10,000 user migration
3 to 6 months for 10,000+ user migration
