Fresh terminology for automation rules and components

An automation ‘rule’ is now a ‘flow', and a ‘component’ is now a 'step’. You may notice some inconsistencies in the documentation while we make this change. Read more about the updates in Automation

Enable and disable Jira automation flows

You can view the status of an automation flow to identify if the flow is currently active or not. If a flow is inactive, it will not execute until it is enabled. The status of a flow can be seen on its details screen.

  • Enable - The flow is currently active.

  • Disable - The flow is not currently in use.

  • Draft - The flow has unpublished changes.

When you first create a flow, it is enabled by default.

Disable a flow

There are two ways to disable a flow:

  • Navigate to the flows list, and select the toggle in the Enabled column of the table.

  • Navigate to the flow details, and select the toggle in the top-left corner.

Scheduled flows that reach a Failure status for 10 consecutive executions will disable automatically.

Once your flow is enabled, you can track its activity using the audit log.
