Flexera IT Visibility data source

Data Manager is included in all Service Collection Premium and Enterprise plans.

Flexera IT Visibility is a module within the Flexera One platform that consumes data from multiple sources, normalizes it, and provides lifecycle information for IT asset management (ITAM) use cases.

The Flexera IT Visibility adapter securely connects to your Flexera One instance using a GraphQL API to bring normalized device data into Assets Data Manager.

How do I connect this tool to Assets Data Manager?

This task requires Data Manager Adapters admin permissions to complete.

Follow this procedure to connect Flexera IT Visibility to Assets Data Manager:

  1. Gather all of the information listed in the Data Manager fields section.

  2. Gather the connection details listed in the Flexera IT Visibility fields section.

  3. Within Data Manager:

    • Create a new job by selecting the Flexera IT Visibility adapter.

    • Configure the required fields with the information gathered.

  4. Within Flexera One:

    • Ensure you have an active IT Visibility license.

    • Follow the steps in the Authentication and authorization section to configure access.

Each time this job runs, the selected data set is brought into Data Manager and becomes raw data.

Data Manager fields

You will need to specify the following information from Assets Data Manager:

  • Data source name: The name of the connection, also the job name as referenced in the Data Manager Adapters client.

  • Data source type: Select a data source type, such as the name of the tool or the data format.

  • Short display name: A short, unique name as a data source label. Use letters and numbers only (no special characters or spaces).

Flexera IT Visibility fields

You will need to specify the following information from your Flexera One instance:

  • API URL: The GraphQL endpoint for your region. You can enter a custom URL if a new region is added. Common endpoints include:

    • NAM: https://api.flexera.com/graphql/

    • EU: https://api.flexera.eu/graphql/

    • APAC: https://api.flexera.au/graphql/

  • API Access Token: Your generated Flexera One API token.

  • Org ID: Your unique Flexera One organization identifier.

  • Data Set: Select the Flexera IT Visibility dataset. Currently, the Hardware devices dataset is available for this adapter. It focuses on attributes for the hardware asset management practice.

Authentication and authorization

To successfully connect the adapter, the following requirements must be met:

  • License: You must have a valid IT Visibility license within Flexera One. If the license is missing or incorrect, the job will return an error.

  • Account Scoping: The account associated with the API Access Token must be appropriately scoped to access IT Visibility data. Ensure the user account has the required permissions within the Flexera One portal.

API call

The adapter uses the Flexera GraphQL API to perform data retrieval.

Fields retrieved

The adapter provides out-of-the-box attributes designed to match Hardware Asset Management (HAM) requirements.

The following fields are retrieved from various device type data sets:
