Recommended data structure for an Assets schema

Assets in Jira Service Management is a database tool, and so requires good data modeling to run at peak efficiency. The following table shows the limits we recommend staying within to keep your schemas running smoothly. These recommended limits are based on the type of attribute that is being used. Read more about attribute types.

We strongly recommend that you stay within these guidelines to reduce any potential performance or reliability issues.

You can exceed these guidelines - however there is a limit on how much data you can store in Assets.

Attribute type	Recommended limit (Maximum of 35 attributes per object type)
Text, Boolean, Integer, Float, Date, Date/Time	Maximum of 35 attributes per object type
Textarea	Maximum of 2 Textarea attributes per object. Maximum character count of 5000 characters.
Object attribute (references)	Maximum of 3 reference attribute types per object. Each reference attribute can contain a maximum of 10 objects - the maximum cardinality is 10.
User	Maximum of one user attribute type per object. Each user attribute can contain a maximum of 20 users (cardinality >= 20).
Group	Maximum of one group attribute type per object. Each group attribute can contain a maximum of 20 users (cardinality >= 20).
