Configure Custom Data Dictionaries
Data Manager is included in all Service Collection Premium and Enterprise plans.
This task requires Data Manager admin permissions.
Data dictionaries standardise terminology from multiple data sources by comparing values against a list of normalised values.
In Data Manager, there are:
Default data dictionaries
Custom data dictionaries
This page focuses on Custom data dictionaries.
A data dictionary aims to normalize disparent data into clean normalized data. In order to do this, there must be a computed attribute to normalize the value to, therefore you must have a computed attribute available.
To add a computed attribute.
From the sidebar, select Assets.
In Data Manager, select Object classes.
Select the ellipses (…) beside the Object class.
Select Attributes
Select + Attribute
In Add attribute, complete:
Name – attribute name.
Data type – select a data type.
Primary key – select if this attribute should be a primary key.
Importance – select if this attribute should be an Important attribute.
Include in snapshots – select if it should be included in snapshots.
Normal / Computed – select Computed so this attribute can be used in a data dictionary.
To create a new Custom data dictionary:
From the sidebar, select Assets.
In Data Manager, select Object classes.
Select the ellipses (…) beside the Object class.

Enter the Name of the data dictionary, select the source attribute (and secondary, if required), set the destination attribute; which is where the normalized value will display and finally set the priority.
Select Add.
You will see the new data dictionary has a scope of Local, indicating that this is a custom data dictionary.
Using the open folder icon under Action :
Add dictionary groups.
(Optional) Add dictionary values to each group*.
Run a merge on any data source for your changed to take affect.
