Qualifier

Data Manager is included in all Service Collection Premium and Enterprise plans.

A qualifier is a unicode character that is wrapped around a section of text that includes spaces. This character is used in the flat file configuration screen to tell Data Manager that this section of text is a single value and not multiple values.

For example:

  • Microsoft Windows might be read by Data Manager as two values: Microsoft and Windows.

  • "Microsoft Windows" will be read as a single value.

The typical qualifier character is a double quote ". Make sure that you don’t use “smart quotes” instead.

If a qualifier is used in the data source, it is important to include the qualifier that is used in the data when you create a flat file data source.
