How Assets object usage works
Usage in Assets is measured by counting objects, and that count is what determines whether you're inside the allowance included with your plan.
What usage means
Every object you create counts towards your usage. Included object allowances are granted based on the plan and edition of each site in your organisation. We combine those site allowances into one organisation-wide total, so usage is assessed across your sites together rather than separately for each site. Each site can contain up to 3 million objects. This site-level limit still applies even if your organisation has unused allowance elsewhere.
Allowances apply across the products that include Assets, including Jira, Jira Service Management, Service Collection, and Teamwork Collection. For the allowance included with each plan, see What's in Assets for Cloud?.
How your count is calculated
Your usage is the number of objects in all schemas on each site, excluding system schemas. Those site counts contribute to your organisation's overall usage against its combined allowance. System schemas are schemas used by other features to store information, such as Services. Objects within Data Manager, which is available with Jira Service Management and ServCo, don't count towards your usage.
Deleted objects aren't counted, and sandbox objects aren't included. Assets has no archiving, so there's no archived-object category.
This means the way to change your usage is to change how many objects you keep, not to move them somewhere else.
Monitor your usage
You can see your current usage in two places:
In Assets settings, under App usage
In Atlassian Administration, under Insights, then Platform usage
If you’re on a sandbox, your usage won’t show in Atlassian Administration at launch. You can still see your sandbox object count in Assets settings, under App usage.
Your total may include objects in schemas that are hidden from some people, depending on roles and permissions. To understand how that works, see What are roles?.
What to do near your limit
Usage can only be managed in Atlassian Administration, not in Assets settings. From there you have two options, and you can combine them:
Add capacity. See Manage the usage limit for Assets to enable extra usage or buy an object pack, and Manage your bill for extra objects to understand what you're charged.
Reduce what you're counting. See Optimize your schemas for usage.
