Create an attribute reference

Assets is included with Service Collection Paid plans (Standard, Premium, and Enterprise). What Assets is and how it works.

Display name is currently restricted to customers enrolled in the Beta trial of the Assets common data model. Some details may change before general availability.

An attribute reference in Assets is an attribute that allows you to select another object as a value. When creating a new reference, you must choose the object type you want to reference.

To create an attribute reference, you must be logged in as an Assets admin with Jira or Jira Service Management access or have Object Schema Manager permissions.

  1. From the app switcher, select Assets.

  2. From your sidebar, select Schemas and select an object schema.

  3. Select the relevant object type.

  4. Select Attributes.

  5. In the attribute listing, enter a Display name for the attribute reference — this is the name shown to users — then a Description. Assets derives a system Name from it for use in AQL and APIs; you can edit the derived Name before saving.

  6. Under Type, select Object, and under Type value, select the object type you want to reference.

  7. Under Additional Value, select the Reference type for this reference. Learn more about managing references

  8. Select Add.
