Assets supports the Jira Query Language (JQL) functions aqlFunction and aqlFunctionWithoutFilterScope, letting you query work items with object custom fields using Assets Query Language (AQL) aqlFunction respects the field's Filter scope;aqlFunctionWithoutFilterScope ignores it so you can find links to objects that have since fallen out of scope.

If an aqlFunction() or aqlFunctionWithoutFilterScope(aql) query matches more than 10,000 assets, the search won't run and you'll get an error. To fix this, refine your AQL to add more selective criteria, or split broad schemas into smaller, more targeted queries.

aqlFunctionWithoutFilterScope(aql)

Works exactly like aqlFunction(aql), but ignores the Assets object custom field's Filter scope when it looks up objects. Use it to find work items whose linked object was valid when it was selected but has since fallen outside the field's Filter scope — for example, an object whose Status changed to Decommissioned, Retired, or Archived after it was linked.

The aqlFunctionWithoutFilterScope(aql) does not introduce unlimited access to the Assets Schemas or changes permissions. Like aqlFunction(), the search is still limited to objects in the object schema selected in the Assets Custom Field’s configuration, and only returns work items that are linked to those objects. AQL only matches objects relevant to that field, the only difference is that the field's Filter scope is not added to your JQL query.
