Apply a default configuration to a policy control

Your data security policy provides a number of controls to help you keep your system secure. What is a data security policy?

Who can do this?
Role: Organization admin

Atlassian Government Cloud:Available

Access your data security policy and controls

The data security policy dashboard shows the general status of each of your controls.

For each policy, you’ll see columns for:

  • Control: A mechanism within a policy that enforces a protective action.

  • Default configuration: Shows whether the control is blocked or allowed for the Atlassian apps in your organization, excluding any overrides.

  • Applies to: Displays which Atlassian apps the default configuration applies to.

  • Overrides: Shows the total number of overrides applied to the control.

  • Updated by: Shows the name of the admin who last updated the policy.

  • Actions: Shows actions you can take, such as viewing the control details, or viewing the audit log activities associated with the policy.

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Security > Data protection > Data security policy.

  3. Select one of the following:

    • Select a control name to view it.

    • Select the Draft controls tab to see any existing drafts.

    • Select the More actions () menu for a control, then View audit log to see any audit log activity relating to the control.

Block or allow a control in your policy

By default, all controls are set to allowed, and they apply to your entire organization. You can see the current status in the Default configuration column of the control table. If the Overrides column contains any overrides, make sure you understand what the current overrides do. This is because these are automatically removed when you change the default configuration of a control. Configure an override for a control
